About Botox


Botox Treatment Defined
Botox� Cosmetic is one of the most popular temporary wrinkle removal techniques available for anyone from 18-65 years of age. A Botox� cosmetic procedure is actually the trade name of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a purified toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. About Liposuction

Liposuction Defined
Liposuction is defined as the removal of fat deposits beneath the skin using a hollow stainless steel tube (called a cannula) with the assistance of a powerful vaccum. Liposuction at Guylaine Lanctot is accomplished with local anesthetic (tumescent fluid) and is done in combination with our cutting-edge Smartlipo� laser and/or our LipoSelection� ultrasound machine(s). Our patients are never put to sleep.

Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction refers to a technique that uses large volumes of very dilute local anesthesia that is injected into the fat causing the targeted areas to become tumescent, or swollen and firm. Local anesthesia is widely regarded as the safest form of anesthesia. Post Op, patients typically will take Extra Strength Tylenol for pain.

How does the SmartLipo� procedure work?

A very small cannula or tube that measures only 1.0mm to 2.0mm in diameter is inserted through the skin into subcutaneous tissue. Subsequently, the fat cells melt or are vaporized and are easily drained way.

The Vaser system uses a state-of-the-art ultrasound probe that melts fat, leaving surrounding tissue (such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue) relatively intact. The liquefied fat is then removed through our gentle suctioning process, through which damage to surrounding tissue is further minimized.

About Facial Filler Treatments

Facial Fillers Defined
Juvederm�, Sculptra� and Aquamid� are three examples of the newest technology in wrinkle treatments and facial enhancement without surgery.

Juvederm� (temporary filler)
This Hyaluronic Acid-based ("H.A.") derma fillers can be injected into the the laugh lines (labial nasal fold) that stretch from your nose to the side of your mouth. Fillers are also used to increase the volume of your lips, giving a more healthy and vital appearance. One of the main benefits of Hyaluronic Acid injections is that they carry no risk of possible patient allergic rejection.

Sculptra� (semi-permanent filler)
Semi-permanent soft tissue fillers are good options for patients who have already experienced temporary treatments and are ready for more long-term effects. They can sometimes have more significant side effects and results that, while longer lasting, also take longer to become noticeable.

Aquamid�(permanent filler)
The non-absorbable (non-biodegradable) filler that is also non-allergenic is the best for patients looking for a permanent solution to increasing the volume of the lips and nasal fold.

Facial Filler Risks
Unlike collagen injections, these second and third generation fillers are not based on animal extracts and have no risk of allergic reactions. Patients that are not candidates for fillers are those with recurrent herpes (cold sores), active herpes (cold sores), insulin-dependent diabetics (type 1), pregnancy, and many other systemic diseases, as well as those that are on anti-coagulants.
